BSC COACHES CORNER

This year, our coaches will be putting together tips for parents/skaters, information sessions on health, sport and a variety of other issues that affect not only our Skaters but also our Parents.

Janaury 13, 2012

Due to a serious car accident last week, Coach Stacy Robert was injured however she is on the mend.  If you notice that she isn't on the ice as often or seems stiff please be patient as she is healing.  Also, there might be some minor changes to the Senior Skater's schedules over the next couple of weeks.  Please contact Coach Stacy if you have any questions or concerns.

We wish you a very speedy recovery Stacy!

October 20, 2011

Coach David Howe will be away on Friday, October 21, for the morning skate.

Coach Courtney Shaw will be away on Thursday, November 10th.

New updated Senior Starskate Schedule has been issued.  Please Click Here for the updated version.

October 10, 2011

  •  EFFECTIVE October 10, those Senior Skaters who fail to notify the Coaches of absenses will be charged for those lessons missed. 24hrs notice to the Coach is preferred however no later than 12pm (Noon) the day of the lessons will be accepted. Any notification later than 12 Noon will result in being charged your regular lessons. Notification to the Coaches are to be made by the skater or their parent ONLY via the Coaches e-mail at Beaumontcoaches@gmail.com (Use for Courtney, Stacy or Sara).

September 24, 2011

  • At the request of the Coaches, all Junior and Senior Star Skaters are asked to complete a Client Information sheet. The Coches are creating update to files for their skaters and preparing lesson plans based on what you have requested for lessons. Lessons will not be given to those who do not ask for it.  This is important.

  • Remember, all it is the parent and skater's responsibility to be informed and communicate with the Coaches over lessons, questions or concerns.  You are encouraged to ask questions or contact the Coaches directly.  Communication is very important to ensure everyone is on the same page.

New Skates - Things to Consider When Getting New Skates

  • skates should fit snug with the heel firmly in the back where it will not move,
  •
toes close to the end where they will not slide but the skater can still wiggle the toes a bit
  • make sure there is enough support; if there are huge creases in the ankles there may not be enough support, if while standing in the skates the skater's ankles fall in or out there is not enough support, and if when you tie the skates the front sides of the ankles touch across the tongue there is not enough support
  • make sure laces are the right length so that you can go through all the loops or hooks and tie a bow without a lot of extra length; hanging laces and laces around the ankles can both be dangerous
  • get your skater to walk around in their skates at home before coming to the rink to get used to bending their ankles  and balancing in their skates; if they have any areas that are rubbing or cutting the feet make sure to protect those spots (pro-wrap, moleskin, gel pads) and you can also take skates into any skate shop to get them punched out
